This piece is from the Earth Art Series, and celebrates the impressive contribution to the world of art by Michael Heizer.  He was (and is!) a pioneer in the Earth Art or Environmental Art movement that had its beginnings in the 1970s.  He is still working today -- on “The City” a vast city-size art project north of Las Vegas in the desert high country that rivals in size the almost any other man made art object I can think of.
